This is one of the videos that I seen freshman year at Bradley off of Vashties Blog, and it definitely inspired me to be a director-- Camera movements, story, beautiful imagery. Plus Mayer Hawthorne kicks ass, and this song is so true for a lot of people. Funny thing is last fall I went to his concert at the Darkroom (still wasn't 21), but I hustled my way in (had to explain to this very cute girl named Michelle or Mary something with an M and her friend that I wasn't 21 and had my bros id-- he was behind me in line-- and if I could cut with them). Surprisingly, they let me in and I got to meet him after his set. I told him I was an aspiring director and would love to do a video for him. Hawthorne being the sly nice guy said "yea yea-- do you have a reel?" I looked at him with slight disappointment and said "no, not yet.." He then handed me the signed heart shaped record that read "Jacob-Keep The Soul brotha", and gave me an email to hit up his people (which I lost)... Well Since then I've been on my grind doing these low budget vids to build my reel--meeting people etc etc. Well I'm still waiting to do that vid so Hawthorne hit me up and you can check out my reel now!

Good Ol' Felt-- A tribute to Christina Ricci, A Tribute to Lisa Bonet, & A Tribute To Rosie Perez. DOPE
Other than that the new Diddy track is amazing, the video is what really made me appreciate it more. Also check out the Lupe rmx.

Witnessing a lot of amazing work.
So this past week I've been surrounded by the most talented Chicago artist. The week started off with going to US BEER CO'S "The Get Down" hosted by ILL Legit, and hearing some of the dopest artist from Mr. ILL Legit himself, Wes Restless, Vertual Vertigo, and 1773. All i have to say is all of these individuals/groups were amazing. The dual group of Vertual Vertigo and 1773 was something I have never seen before in my life. It reminded me of a new school A Tribe Called Quest, with the most ridiculous energy you'll ever witness.
I'm also currently conducting Bradleypalooza which is going to be a 3 hour concert at Bradley University on April 3rd. So far the artist consist of Black Matt, GoodLife, Shapes and Atoms, Isis Rose, ILL Legit, and Blah Blah Blah. This event is going to be DOPE!!!!
Bradley be ready to be amazed without a doubt.
On another note my close friends from GOODLIFE are cooking up some amazing, and let me say amazing tracks. Look out for some of their new stuff "My Addiction", "Soulful Music", and "Laid back"-- the video I'm currently shooting for them. Oh yea and their newly added artist Carlos Hernandez-- this guy is the future to R&B, and I just met him.
Heres a sneak peak:

Thanksgiving part 2: Surprise Surprise
So I have to say this break was one of the best breaks I've ever had. Every year it always seems to fly bye, and its just another holiday. For the first time, I'd have to say this was one I probably won't forget. Good times with GoodLife peeps, and great time with my Fam. BLACK FRIDAY STYLE! (insider lol).
But more importantly I found out something quite amazing. Apparently, my great uncle named Isaac Cuevas was a spanish director/actor. He actually changed his name to Isaac Caves, and made novelas and did a feature with Paramount Pictures. This was all told to me at Thanksgiving by my dad and uncle. Funny how my dad knows what my career goals are, and decides to tell me this now. But its all good, I liked the suspense.

Crips and Bloods
Definitely want to check out this documentary. Without question, it's time these issues come to the surface instead of just exploiting these kids as being crime ridden as we see on the news everyday. Hopefully (and I'm sure it will), give insight to our own situation in Chicago and across the US. Over 34 CPS students passed away this year, it's definitely time for a reformation of thought, policy, and action. I can go on for days about this subject, and I can't wait until the day we only have to speak of it as our distant past.
